TUE 04 JULY 2000

Diary
SRW 3 Radio Villa, Stuttgart, Germany

Awoke to the usual fragrant smell of country meadows and sun drenched pasture that is tour bus aroma, after 14 sweaty blokes have been on it!

Looked outsie to find we are perched on a hill overlooking the town, and very picturesque it was too with the sun streaming down.

Went for a wander into the venue to have a look with the Beever, poor fella got trapped in the loo with an entire contingent of the local womens choir!

The said choir had been rehearsing in the room we were to be doing gig. It was an old villa that had been turned into a radio station during the American occupation after the war. The room we were to gig in was the main studio, a large wooden accoustic room. One problem at the moment, its 2 O clock and no sign of PA or lights.

Eventually a truck arrived with the kit and the day began. By the time sound check came the sky had darkened and a mighty thunderstorm erupted. Getting from the bus to the gig was a drenching affair, as the band and I discovered, only to find ourselves at a locked door, fortunately the trusty Beeves was alerted and came to rescue us before a certain drowning. Dinner was an interesting affair, ghoulash type thing with tatties, served on the first floor with the bar- dressing room in basement!! So a steady stream of band and crew weaved there way through the punters to our room.

Gig went OK hi-lite being the comedy intro to "come back to what you know". Load out was a tiresome affair as we were one crew member down, Milky was desperately trying to fight off some adoring fans who had been bothering him after the gig, he so obviously wanted to leave their company and come and help us with the load out.

Afterwards it was off to the hotel for a shower in the day-room, we gathered together in a close group as we ventured into the unknown, our illustrious leader guiding us through a Blair Witch of a wood, after an hours walk through twisting paths we arrive at the hotel, up to the room and on with the TV for a bout of monster truck racing, but No! where is it, no monster trucks! instead a lumber Jill competition, what quality entertainment to round off a day at work.
