Dave, I found that bug you were talking about in the diary. My diary entry which should have gone in for Saturday 18th is being shown as Monday 20th instead.

Cheers, see you in Glasgow.

just thought i'd post a wee message to say a huge thank you for SG#6. I know it's been said by loads of peeps already after Sg's but the hard work put in to staging these gigs is REALLY appreciated. Muchas gracias amigos! xxx

I'll thirdsie that.. Thanks everyone! Great to see you looking fine and dandy Mister Joy Joy - you did a most excellent job monitoring Mickey's vocals - all those backing 'ooohs' and 'aahhhs' are the business!

I'm sad to report, however, that my photo-taking antics at the start of the evening came to nought as my film hadn't wound on :( - boohoooo !!

Batsford Manor

Monday 30th July 2001

Not really gonna put a msg about how great the gig was or the ppl that i met up with cos thats all been done on the board already. Instead I'd like talk about the place of the SG. (the word 'venue' does not do the place any justice!).This may or may not have been touched upon on the main board, but how beautiful was the place, eh! The Manor itself looks so amazing from the outside, though the main highlight was the view from it! How soothing was it to be sitting on the grass verge looking out onto the open plain with the hills in the far background. I would love to have been there in the morning to see the sun rising over the hills, it would have been so picture-esque. If anyone wants to take a peek at the photo's, go point your browser towards www.batsfordpark.co.uk. The band didn't go there to spend the good part of a year recording an album, they were actually there to enjoy the scenery! hehe

Tuesday 31st July 2001

Cheers to the crew for making SG6 possible. Hope you all had as good a time as I.

Gordon - Always good to meet a fellow Jock (again)! I'll try and listen out for anything by Lambchop (i've got that right haven't I). My mate says they were at T in the park as well.

Cuzzy (have I spelt that right) - Where'd u go? Sorry I never got bak to u. Was talking to u bout how drunk I was when I saw u at the Chinese in London after XFM, I went to get Steve's signature, and then lost you. Wanted to talk to u about official 'bootlegs' as well *ahem*. Only messin.

Anyway cheers again, and hopefully see ya's at Gig on the Green on Aug 25th.

Cheers,

Chris

Tickets for SGs
Rachel
Sunday 29th July 2001

Hi, I think SGs are a fantastic idea, and I think Embrace are superb for doing them, but it has become a real scramble for tickets. This seems to have led to more and more complex ways to get passwords to register for tickets, which is taking the SGs away from some of the fans. For example, I work in a hospital and all the time the SG#6 codes were being broadcast, I was either at work or on-call, so there was no way I could go on the internet for more than a couple of minutes as I have to keep my phone line free. So there was no way I could spend up to 11 hours trying to get tickets like some messageboarders claimed to. It was particularly frustrating as I live about 10 minutes away from Batsford, and I couldn't even attempt to get tickets. There are many other people like me who work irregular hours, have on-calls, or simply do not have access to the internet for hours on end, who won't have had a chance to get tickets either. What I'm proposing is that tickets are offered more like a normal competition. The date and rough details about where the gig is to be held could be posted on the website 2 weeks before, with eveyone having a week to enter. This would offer the chance of going to a far wider fanbase, which is surely the essence of a SG.

Without trying to make this reply sound like I'm being offensive, in all fairness for the SG organisers, SG#3,#4 and#5 were based on a random draw process so that everyone had an equal chance of obtaining tickets. It's only with this one that it had been on an 'obtain your tickets' basis.
It would be very unwise if the full details were posted beforehand as there would be many people just turning up on their own whim without tickets. It's a shame you didn't get tickets, although a lotta ppl on the band site msgboard had spares. Better luck next time, eh. Have a nice day! (",)

How else could an SG allocate tickets? Do you think the embrace fans would get tickets if it was announced on radio or TV? The internet means that the real fans can go for the experience, but radio, magazines or TV would mean just anyone could go. There isnt a "radio embrace" or a "channel embrace" on your telly, so the net is the only way to allow fans who use the board and other embrace sites to get tix. Cruel for people without internet connections, but how else could it be done properly?

Hey, nice to see that there has actually been something to report in the diary section! It hadn't been updated in quite a while. (",)

Wednesday 25th July 2001

Raymond, maybe the reason that there hasn't been any thing to report in the diary is maybe because there hasn't actually been anything to report!

And Milky, are you sure you got all those wrinkles just from the bath??

Anyone going to SG#6, I'll CU there. Check back after and MAYBE there'll B something to report!
